Alexis Rosenfeld brings the voice of the ocean to the Visa pour l'Image festival

For its 34th edition, the prestigious Visa pour l’Image festival honored the 1 OCEAN / UNESCO project by exhibiting a selection of photographs by Alexis Rosenfeld.

Freshly restored, the magnificent grounds of the former University of Perpignan hosted this year's Visa pour l'Image International Photojournalism Festival. From August 27 to November 11, the Festival showcased the work of some twenty photographers from around the world, all of whom were carefully selected.

Alexis Rosenfeld, photographer and explorer, presented a selection of photographs taken during the 1 OCEAN exploration missions in collaboration with UNESCO. The 16,000 visitors were able to discover the unexpected landscapes of the world's seabeds through various themes. These included the coral reefs of French Polynesia, the underwater volcanoes of Sicily, and the WWF's "Cap Cétacés" program.

"Participating in Visa pour l'Image is, of course, an honor. It gives even more meaning to the 1 OCEAN project that I am leading with UNESCO. Through images, we are witnesses to the richness and fragility of the ocean. Allowing us to exhibit these photographs means allowing us to pass on this knowledge and thus contribute to protecting the ocean."

Created in 1989, Visa Pour l’Image is an international photojournalism festival held in Perpignan. Considered by many to be the largest festival of its kind, it welcomes the best photographic reports every year.
