Véritable top prédateur, le rorqual de Bryde profite du festin qu’offre la grande migration du vivant pour se nourrir. On estime qu’il peut, en une seule prise, recueillir près de 10 000 sardines. Ses fanons lui permettent de filtrer sa nourriture. Lorsqu’il surgit des fonds marins pour s’emparer des sardines, il déploie pleinement sa gorge et n’en laisse pas une miette. C’est une scène difficile à immortaliser du fait de la rapidité et du caractère imprévisible du rorqual de bryde.
